Happy February 29th. It's Leaf Year's Day! This sale only comes around once every 4 years so we are glad you joined us in taking a giant leap into lard! Here's what you'll find in this fat pack...

Pasture Raised Leaf Lard 14 oz: This is quite possibly the finest lard available. It is rendered from the the prized pasture raised "leaf" (internal fat) making it less "porky" tasting than regular lard. There is no meat muscle in the leaf and hence a milder pork flavor. This makes an amazing lard that is delicate, light and "clean" tasting. Bakers have cherished Leaf Lard because it creates the best crusts and cakes while imparting very little flavor of its own. Because of its high smoke point, Leaf Lard is simply perfect for frying and sautéing, especially when you want the natural flavors of your ingredients to shine. Fatworks Pure Premium Pastured Raised Leaf Lard is essential for anyone interested in cooking with traditional fat. We have no doubt that soon you'll be Praising the Lard.

Pasture Raised Pork Lard 14 oz: This is our most flavorful lard made from back fat and belly fat of 100% pasture raised pigs. Lard is a robust fat that is great for everyday cooking. Use for browning meat, sautéing veggies and baking both sweet and savory treats. Lard has a high smoke point of 370°F so it is also great for frying your favorite potatoes. You probably know this by now, but it bears repeating: none of our products have added hormones or antibiotics and they are all pasture raised by small family farmers. NOTE: You can filter for repeated use. Just drain through a coffee filter into a clean jar.

Grass Fed Lamb Tallow 8 oz: If you don't know about Lamb Tallow keep reading, as this is one baa-d tallow. Some people find that lamb, in general, has a flavor that many in the West find a bit bit overpowering. But when it comes to the tallow itself, there is very little "gaminess" and it has a very subtle, mild (and did we mention, delicious) flavor, making it ideal for sautéing your favorite leafy greens, roasting vegetables and pan frying any and all meat. Lamb Tallow adds a piquant depth to soups and stews and of course, let us never forgot the amazing and spudtacular things tallow can do to a potato! In fact, any root veggie will roast or fry beautifully with Lamb Tallow. It would be easy to go the "meat and potatoes" route, however, if you are up for a little culinary adventure we suggest baking with Lamb Tallow, only because it makes for some of the most delicious, savory pies and stir-fries. And we didn't even mention the whole new world of Middle Eastern cuisine that is just a jar away with Lamb Tallow. (This beloved tallow is even used as a secret ingredient in traditional baklava recipes.) Have at it!

Grass Fed Buffalo Tallow a.k.a. Thunderfat 8 oz: We call this Thunderfat because it is sourced from the great American Bison, the Thunderbeast! Fatworks Grass Fed Buffalo Tallow is sourced from Organic Grass-Fed Buffalo and rendered the Fatworks way. Buffalo Tallow has been a part of many Native American tribes for generations and now we are bringing this revered fat to you! If you are trying to get the benefits of traditional beef tallow but just can't "get into" the taste, our buffalo tallow may be just what you need. Fatworks Organic Buffalo Tallow is a more "neutral" tasting fat. This rich, deep yellow fat is incredible for sautéing, frying and baking pies that are flaking awesome! Buffalo Tallow is also great for stir-fries, stews and sautéed dishes. Please note: Buffalo Tallow is unlimited in awesomeness but limited in supply. Quote of the Day: "Organic Buffalo Tallow baking equals pies that are light and flaky and don't make your pies taste like buffalo whatsoever." -Anonymous (because who would take credit for that?) Also, for DIY lotion makers, if you mix Buffalo Tallow with essential oils you've got yourself a powerful emollient. (That's fancy talk for "moisturizer".)
